day 279

ohhhh today my BF~*~* and i went to the red river revel for some good louisiana times y'all LAISSEZ LES BON TEMPS ROULEZ. in short summary, for those of you guyz who aren't from shreveport, the revel is just a festival to eat overpriced (but usually delicious) food while listening to bands (most cover lynyrd skynyrd) while looking at art (most involving some sort of fleur de lis) while trying to avoid running into people you know but don't want to see (see day 241).

i've gone every year since i've lived here except last year because that's when i was living in fancy los angeles. here are just a few important lists:

things that were awesome about the revel that now only exist in the memories of thousands of shreveportians:

the ROCK DIG

the fire drill.. awesome and safe

going on field trips and getting KAZOOS

that man (or lady) who used to walk around on stilts

the simulator ride (1997ish?) that my dad, brother and i rode like 15 times at least

the 2007 losing anna show

the 2000 keith urban concert, back when i thought keith urban was KEWL, so you know i had to stand front row center of course, then my mom picked me up after

also one year when i was on danceline, we did a dance there and i thought i was really good. i was not.

good food that the revel has/had:

fried snickers and twinkies!

chocolate covered cheesecake (see picture, above, mmm)

those things with half an orange and ice cream on top. so good. don't remember what they're called, but they've been gone for years

that's all i can think of.

i bought some bamboo earrings and a patchouli candle. i reluctantly made the decision not to purchase a $3500 owl photograph.
